HARRY Parsons, Luke Haines and Max Whitfield were on target for Swindon Town’s Under 18s against Luton at Stanley Park.
The result extended Town’s unbeaten Merit League streak to three games – with two wins and a draw.

Emitom won the feature novice hurdle for Lambourn trainer Warren Greatrex, there were also wins on the card for Colin Tizzard, Nigel Twiston-Davies and Dan Skelton.

NICKY Henderson trained Champ landed the Grade One Challow Novices’ Hurdle for JP McManus and jockey Barry Geraghty at Newbury on Saturday.
The promising middle-distance hurdler charged clear of his rivals inside the final furlong to win comfortably, subsequently becoming the bookies’ favourite for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.

SUNDAY was my first visit to Barbury point-to-point, and only my second ever point-to-point meeting.
It’s racing at its rawest, no grandstands, no shelter – just a field, a couple of bookmakers and a track in a field.
Every keen racegoer should try it, makes for interesting and eye-opening day out – far different from the increasingly commercialised ‘rules’ racing people watch on TV.

Henderson’s runner drifted right in the home straight to throw away a potential win.

A SEVEN-race card entertained racegoers at Warwick on the Friday before Remembrance Sunday.
Exciting Novice Kalashnikov topped the bill and comfortably won the Smarkets Novices’ Steeple Chase in impressive style.

LYDIARD Park hosted Be Military Fit’s annual Sickener on Saturday morning.
Led by Kev Staples and Nick White – plus their literal ‘army’ of instructors – the morning put members of BMF Swindon, Bath, Cheltenham and Reading through their paces with a series of ‘military’ style exercises.
The session lasted four hours, photos from the first two hours are below.
EIGHT races entertained race goers in Berkshire on Friday afternoon for the course’s penultimate flat fixture of the season.
Close racing throughout and a gorgeous sunset made for a good race day.

MADE a visit to Emma Lavelle and her stables/gallops on a misty Thursday morning as part of my work at the Swindon Advertiser.
Emma is a very approachable, knowledgeable and chatty trainer – you can’t help capture a bit of national hunt spirit being at her Ogbourne Maizey base.
